Born and educated in Scotland, I have spent over three and
a half decades working in the veterinary field, most of which
has been in New Zealand. My passion for photography predates
my veterinary career and is likely to extend beyond it. However
it is in the last 20 years that I have become immersed in
expressing the body as a photographic subject.
I’m fascinated by the ways we express our spirit through
our body. In the context of life on Earth, our moment is
brief; we are tied to the planet in the physical and yet
we are more.
For a while we get to use the body as a vehicle, - amazing
in its form and function, capable of such power and dexterity,
yet exquisitely sensual and vulnerable to age or injury.
The images I create focus on the use of light, sculptural
form and sometimes texture to produce a spectrum ranging
from a minimalist, sensual gesture to fantasy landscapes.
